The findings of the 2024 Lawyer Perfectionism & Well-Being Survey make clear that perfectionism is not the badge of honor many lawyers believe it to be, but rather a toxic cultural force that undermines lawyer well-being, performance, and retention. This program moves beyond awareness to focus on what comes next, offering a practical, evidence-based roadmap for translating research insights into meaningful organizational change. Participants will explore how perfectionism quietly fuels many of the challenges PD teams are tasked with addressing—inefficiency, burnout, resistance to feedback, and attrition, to name just a few—and gain concrete strategies for countering these patterns at both the individual and institutional levels. Attendees will leave with tools to engage skeptical stakeholders, redefine excellence as sustainable and learnable, institutionalize learning goals alongside performance metrics, and empower leaders to model practices that promote psychological safety, growth, and long-term high performance.
